The first copies of the new Jagannatha Ratha-yatra book have come from the printers. Where better to offer the first copy to Srila Gurudeva than his bhajan kutir in Sri Jagannatha Puri.
After the books arrived in the mail we had a special program in Srila Gurudeva’s room for offering the book to him. We called all the devotees and brahmacaris into Srila Gurudeva’s room and performed kirtan while Vamsi Vadan Prabhu presented the book to Srila Gurudeva and showed him the first few pages. Then we offered him sweets, arati and flowers. The book was then presented to Paramagurudeva just as Srila Gurudeva would always have us do with any new publication.
We had recently scheduled a meeting with the King of Orissa (Gajapati Maharaja) and we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to give him Srila Gurudeva’s new Jagannatha Ratha-yatra book. The next day Sundar Gopal Prabhu, Madan-mohan Prabhu and I went to the King’s house in Bhubaneswar. The King is very active in trying to spread Jagannatha’s glories throughout India so he was very happy to see this contribution of Gurudeva toward this effort in the form of this newly published book. He skimmed through the first chapter while we were there and said that he would read the rest. He then asked us many questions about Srila Gurudeva and our guru-parampara.
It was so exciting to know that the King of Orissa is now having the fortune of coming in touch with the unparalleled, deep conceptions of Srila Gurudeva.
You will soon be able to get this book in Vrindavan and in the spring it will be available on www.bhaktistore.com.
Jay Jagannatha! Jay Srila Gurudeva!
