Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura
Translated from the Hindi Edition of Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja
The Kirana – highly esteemed as the wealth of Gauḍiya Vaisnavas – takes us directly into the realm of the gopis of Vraja. What are their moods? What stimulates their love for Krsna? How do they express it? How are Srimati Radhika’s loving moods superior to those of Candravali and others?
Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura has presented all this in a kirana, or ray, of Srila Rupa Gosvami’s Ujjvala-nilamani. This edition of theKirana concludes with Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura’s Svapna-vilasamrta-astakam, in which Srimati Radhika relates a dream to Sri Krsna that has left Her bewildered. In the subsequent verses, She and Krsna discuss what She has seen.
